Design Files
What file formats are included in a design download?
Most listings include SVG (universal vector), LBRN2 (LightBurn project file), and XCS (xTool Creative Space file). Check the individual listing to confirm which formats are included. If a seller offers both LightBurn and xTool, all three are typically in the zip.
What laser machines are these files designed for?
The files are designed for fiber lasers, which are required to engrave polymer magazines. Common compatible machines include the xTool F1, xTool F1 Ultra, and fiber-equipped Sculpfun and Monport units. CO2 lasers will not mark PMAG polymer cleanly — fiber only.
Can I use LightBurn files on my xTool machine (or vice versa)?
Not directly. LightBurn (.lbrn2) files require LightBurn software and a compatible laser. xTool (.xcs) files require xTool Creative Space. However, both formats include the SVG source file, which can be imported into either software manually. Filter the Design Store by your software if you want the native file.
Do the files include engraver settings (power, speed, frequency)?
Many listings include recommended settings in the SEO description or inside the zip. The Laser Settings Library at /laser-settings also contains community-contributed settings organized by machine and material.
What magazines do these designs fit?
Most designs are made for PMAG 30 Gen 2 and Gen 3, which are the most common AR-15 polymer magazines. Some designs fit additional platforms — check the listing description for compatibility notes.
Can I use these files commercially to engrave mags for customers?
Personal and small-scale commercial use is generally permitted, but each seller sets their own licensing terms. Read the listing description or contact the seller if you plan to engrave and sell mags at volume. Redistribution of the files themselves is not permitted.
Buying & Downloading
Do I need an account to buy?
No. You can check out as a guest. However, creating a free account lets you access your purchase history and re-download files anytime from your account page. Guest purchases are not stored on pewmag.com.
How do I download my files after purchase?
If you have an account, go to Account → My Purchases. Your download will be available there. If you checked out as a guest, your receipt email contains a link to download. Files are delivered instantly after payment clears.
What payment methods are accepted?
All major credit and debit cards via Stripe. No PayPal or crypto at this time.
Can I get a refund on a digital file?
Because digital files are delivered instantly, refunds are not offered once a file has been downloaded. If you have a technical issue with a file, contact support@pewmag.com and we will work it out.
Engraved Magazines (Mag Store)
What is the Mag Store?
The Mag Store lets you order a finished engraved magazine shipped to your door. You pick a design, pay, and a vetted seller engraves it on their fiber laser and ships it directly to you. You do not need to own a laser.
How long does production and shipping take?
Sellers typically engrave and ship within 3–5 business days. Shipping time depends on your location and the seller's carrier. USPS Ground Advantage is common for domestic orders.
How is shipping charged for physical mags?
Shipping is charged once per seller. If you order multiple mags from the same seller they ship together. If your order includes mags from different sellers, each seller's shipping rate is charged separately because they ship from different locations.
Which states cannot receive physical magazines?
Due to local magazine capacity laws, physical magazine orders cannot be shipped to California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington. You can still purchase digital design files from any state.
Who is actually making and shipping my engraved mag?
Individual sellers — independent laser engravers who have applied and been approved to sell on PEWMAG.COM. Sellers fulfill orders themselves from their own workshop. PEWMAG.COM processes payment and facilitates the transaction.
Selling on PEWMAG.COM
How do I become a seller?
Apply at pewmag.com/apply. You will need to submit photos of your work and a short description of your setup. Applications are reviewed manually. Once approved, you can list design files in the Design Store and engraved mags in the Mag Store.
What does PEWMAG.COM take as a platform fee?
The platform fee is set individually per seller and is deducted from the Stripe transfer at payout. Your dashboard shows the exact fee on each transaction. Standard processing fees (Stripe's 2.9% + $0.30) also apply.
Do I need a Stripe account to sell?
Yes. Sellers must connect a Stripe account to receive payouts. You will be prompted to set this up from your seller dashboard. Stripe handles identity verification and bank transfers directly.
